Bolles entered Friday’s anticipated clash with visiting Cocoa with a 42-game regular-season winning streak.

The Bulldogs will enter the playoffs on a one-game slide.

Cocoa rallied from a 30-14 third-quarter deficit to clip Bolles 44-37 in overtime in a matchup of two defending state champions.

“We wanted to prove to people we can play with anyone, and we did,” Cocoa coach John Wilkinson said. “It was such an honor to play here. We’re in awe of the program here and the tradition Bolles has.”

The Tigers, ranked second in Class 2A, stunned Bolles, the top-ranked team in 2B, with three clutch plays at the end.

The Tigers (10-0) sent the game to overtime on a 71-yard touchdown pass from Matt Younger to E.J. Johnson with five seconds remaining. In overtime, Cocoa scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Younger on fourth down. Bolles (8-1) had a chance to answer, but Chandler Carr’s pass was intercepted by Grady Redding on the first play to end the game.

“It was one of the greatest high school games I’ve witnessed,” Bolles coach Corky Rogers said. “We were prepared, and I was really proud of the effort. Somebody had to lose. They’ve got some pretty talented players over there, and they took advantage of that at times against us.”

Bolles’ offense did its part. Cocoa had allowed just three points in its past five games and only 34 for the entire season. Bolles managed to gain 489 yards and 23 first downs. Every Bolles starting skill player had a big night.

Jordan Garside ran 16 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Jawan Jamison rushed for 120 yards, and Jacob Stenson ran for 93 yards and added 40 receiving yards.

Wide receiver Jay Herndon caught six passes for 115 yards and touchdown. The senior also returned a punt 80 yards for a score late in the second quarter. Carr was efficient all contest, connecting on 13-of-18 passes for 159 yards.

Still, it wasn’t enough.

Cocoa’s offense was rarely stopped. The Tigers gained 436 yards. Cocoa’s five touchdowns came from 52, 41, 59, 60 and 71 yards out.

“We’ve got athletes, and we did a good job getting them in space,” Wilkinson said. “We wanted to turn this into a track meet.”

Cocoa sent the game to overtime on a 71-yard pass down the right sideline from Younger to Johnson. The score cut the Bolles lead to 37-36.

The Tigers initially were going to try for the two-point conversion, but a delay of game penalty altered the plan. Kicker Cody Bell was sent in and, after a second delay penalty, connected on the extra-point try.

Prior to the Cocoa possession, it appeared as if Bolles had run enough clock to preserve the win. After Cocoa punted with 5:57 left, the Bulldogs put together a 15-play drive that burned all but 38 seconds of the clock. The drive concluded when Bolles tried a fake field goal on a 41-yard attempt and was stopped for a loss of 4 yards.

Bolles will host Williston in the first round of the playoffs. Cocoa will host Orlando Jones.

The Friday Night Football Live Tour visited First Coast.

Unfortunately, the tour was not able to turn the trick for the home team as Fletcher won, 26-17.

Once again, the tour featured great prizes and gifts for the fans.

Mark Butler led the run-heavy Bishop Kenny offense with 229 yards on 15 carries, including a 61-yard touchdown on the first play of the second half as the host Crusaders beat the Braves in District 2-3A play. Butler scored four times. Bishop Kenny controlled the clock and kept its offense on the field for much of the first half, but the loss of RB Antonio Baker to an injury in Parker's first drive of the game hurt the Braves. Until that point, Baker had rushed for 49 yards on 11 carries. Kwane Barrington handled the lion's share of rushing duties in the second half, collecting 110 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.

Bishop Kenny also recovered three Parker fumbles.

10-16 ::: St. Augustine at Nease

The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets continued their march towards Orlando and the state championships with a convincing 45-6 win over the Nease Panthers before 5,500 fans.

The Yellow Jackets (7-0) scored on four of their five first-half possessions to build a 24-6 lead. They scored on three of the seven plays they ran in the third quarter to make it a blowout. No meeting between these two schools had been decided by more than seven points since 2003.

Duane Brady and Markis Merrill led the way for St. Augustine. Nease fell to

2-5 on the season.

10-9 ::: Columbia at Ridgeview

Columbia 40, Ridgeview 28

Star of the game: Senior back Tiger Powell rushed for 102yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns, while quarterback Cameron Sweat threw for two scores to power visiting Columbia in a District 4-4A victory.

Turning point: After Ridgeview (1-5, 0-1) cut the Tigers' lead to 33-28 with
5:36 left in the game. Columbia (3-1-1, 2-0) drove 65 yards in seven plays, capped by a 14-yard run by Powell to seal the victory with 2:05 left. Pate Quartez rushed three times for 36 yards during the drive.

On defense: Allan Bates returned an interception for a touchdown and Justin Chapala had an interception for the Panthers. Zach Epenship and Clyde Coker each recorded interceptions for the Tigers.

Fast facts: Ridgeview has returned kickoffs for touchdowns in back-to-back games, including Gerald Mills' 90-yard return Friday. ... Mills accounted for 213 yards of offense, including 123 yards on the ground. ... Tigers senior wide receiver Jamal Montague made eight catches for a game-high 177 yards and scored on a 37-yard pass.

10-2 ::: First Coast at Mandarin

Star of the game: Buccaneers running back Daron White returned a punt 47 yards for a touchdown, rushed for 104 yards on 20 carries and had to bear the load for the First Coast offense after Eric Beverly left the game with a knee injury in the second quarter.

Turning point: First Coast's Joseph Jackson intercepted a pass by Chelton Carter in the end zone with 44 seconds left in the first half, preserving a
19-13 lead for the visiting Buccaneers (3-2).

On defense: Bucs safety Michael Foster intercepted two passes and recovered a muffed Mandarin lateral, and his numerous tackles included a sack of Mandarin's Carter in the fourth quarter.

Fast facts: Beverly ran eight times for 102 yards before his injury. ...
Mandarin's Kevin Bell ran 19 yards for a second-quarter touchdown and returned a kickoff 66 yards to set up another TD for the Mustangs (2-3) in the fourth quarter.

High School Football is in full swing.

The Friday Night Football Live tour visited Forrest High School for its matchup versus Terry Parker.

The game provided to be an exciting one as Channin Ragland hauled in a 45-yard pass to set up the go-ahead TD for host Forrest (2-2, 1-0 in District 2-3A). Derrick Smith ran in from 2 yards out to put the Rebels up over Parker (0-4, 0-1). Forrest sealed the win with a key defensive stop, led by a key sack by Alan Mitchell.

Star of the game: Altrevon Wilson completed 6 of 15 passes for 92 yards and ran and threw for a touchdown to lead Jackson past visiting Tallahassee Godby. Wilson's 17-yard pass to Marquel Wade gave the Tigers a 13-0 lead in the second quarter and the Tigers defense held off a late rally.

Turning point: Late in the first half, Derek Owens intercepted a pass at the Cougars' 40. Owens' 15-yard return set up Wilson's touchdown pass three plays later.

On defense: Rashard Freeman sacked Dennis Andrews on fourth-and-15 at the Jackson 39 with 3:23 to play. The sack ended Godby's drive and its hope of a fourth-quarter comeback. ... The Tigers (3-0) recovered a Cougars fumble in the final two minutes. ... Jackson's defense recorded six sacks and held Godby (1-2) to minus-6 yards rushing in the first half.

Quick hits: The Cougars' Jamelle Murray returned a punt 65 yards to the Jackson 1 to set up Godby's only touchdown. ... Murray also had a 49-yard return in the second half. ... Jeremiah Rackley ran for 73 yards on 25 carries for Jackson.

The Friday Night Football Live tour enjoyed its first ever visit to St. Augustine.

St. Augustine beat Bartram Trail 49-7.

The school did a phenomenal job of welcoming the Friday Night Football Florida Tour to the campus. Allstate and Scion were able to interact with the fans and the fans appreciated the free samples they received courtesy of FNF Live Tour partners.

9-4 ::: Ridgeview at Orange Park

The Jacksonville, Florida, edition of FNF Live got underway with a bang.

Orange Park (featured in the 2009 edition of Friday Night Football Florida magazine) blasted Ridgeview 35-0 in a rivalry game to start the season.

FNF Live and all of its sponsors were there for all the festivities and handed out a ton of products to fans in attendance.
